Forex Economic Calendar: Live Events and News Impact

This forex economic calendar shows the news releases that move currency markets, live and in your own timezone. The data comes from TradingView's official calendar feed, so forecasts and results update the moment they publish. Below the calendar you will find a plain-English guide to reading each column, and an honest look at what news releases do to spreads, stops and fills. Filter by importance, check the schedule before you trade, and know when to stand aside.

Times display in your local timezone automatically. Showing medium and high impact events for the major currencies. Calendar data by TradingView.

How to read the forex economic calendar

Each row is one scheduled release. The flag shows which currency it affects most. The impact marker shows how hard the event usually hits the market. High impact events, often called red folder news, can move a pair 50 pips or more within seconds. Medium events matter when they surprise. Low impact releases rarely move price on their own.

Three numbers decide everything. Previous is the last reading. Forecast is what analysts expect. Actual is what gets published. Price does not react to good or bad news by itself. It reacts to the gap between actual and forecast. A strong number that matches the forecast often does nothing. A small surprise in either direction can move the market hard.

What red-folder news does to your orders

The seconds around a major release are the most hostile conditions retail traders face. Spreads widen sharply, sometimes from one pip to ten or more. Liquidity thins out, so stops can fill far from their level. That slippage is normal in fast markets, not a broker trick. Pending orders can trigger on the spike and close at a loss before the real move even starts.

I treat the calendar as a defense tool first. Before any session, I check what is scheduled. If a red-folder event lands inside my trading window, I either close early, widen my risk plan, or stand aside. Standing aside is a position too. Many funded account programs also enforce news blackout windows, so check your rules before holding trades through a release.

News events and your trading session

Most high-impact releases cluster in two windows. European data lands in the London morning. US data lands around the New York open, with 8:30 New York time the busiest slot of the week. That is also why the news calendar and session timing belong together. Check the live market hours clock to see which session you are in, and read the ICT kill zones guide to see how news windows overlap the highest-volume trading hours.

The pattern many traders watch: the market ranges quietly before a big release, spikes on the number, then picks its real direction once spreads settle. Trading the settled move costs less than trading the spike. The session tools in the library help you map those windows on your own chart.

Tools for trading around news

The library includes indicators built for news conditions. The news indicators category covers event timers and volatility tools. Range and breakout tools from the best MT4 indicators guide help frame the pre-news range so you can see the breakout against a defined structure. Every download ships compiled for MT4 and MT5, tested per the Editorial and Testing Policy.

FAQ

Which events move the forex market most?

Central bank rate decisions, US Non-Farm Payrolls, and CPI inflation prints top the list. GDP, retail sales and PMI surveys follow. The reaction depends on the surprise, not the headline itself.

Should beginners trade during news releases?

Most should not. Spreads, slippage and whipsaws punish inexperience hard. Learning to read the calendar and stand aside is the more valuable skill at the start.

Why did price fall on good news?

Markets price in expectations before the release. If the actual number beats the old reading but misses the forecast, that is a negative surprise. Position unwinding after the spike adds to the confusion.

Are the calendar times accurate for my location?

Yes. The widget reads your device timezone and adjusts every event time automatically. Your MT4 or MT5 chart clock will still show broker server time, which is usually different. Results are not guaranteed; past performance is not indicative of future results.
