Ichimoku Alert Indicator for MT4 and MT5

Written by Dominic Walsh · Published · Last updated

Goichi Hosoda designed a system meant to be read whole. The ichimoku alert indicator draws all five of its lines, then picks one event out of everything they describe: Tenkan crossing Kijun. That crossing earns an arrow and a message, while the rest stays context you read yourself.

This build ships as a compiled .ex4 for MT4 and .ex5 for MT5; the screenshots below come from EURUSD H1.

`Senkou Span A` traces sandy brown ahead of price.

`Senkou Span B` traces thistle beside it.

`Chikou Span` traces lime behind price.

The arithmetic

One call, five outputs

iIchimoku returns every line. `TenkanPeriod` `9`, `KijunPeriod` `26` and `SenkouSpanBPeriod` `52` set all of them, and five separate modes pull each curve out of that single call.

Midpoints, not averages

Each line takes the highest high and lowest low across its own window, then splits the difference. That is why they step flat rather than curving the way an average would.

Only one crossing counts

Two bars settle it. Tenkan moving from under Kijun to above prints the buy mark. The cloud and the lagging span take no part in that decision.

Using it on a chart

Tenkan is the fast line and Kijun the reference.

Both spans together form the cloud ahead of price.

`Chikou Span` sits twenty-six bars behind.

A crossing inside the cloud carries less weight than one outside it.

Marks appear only for the two-line crossing.

Warm-up needs roughly seventy-eight bars.

Alert channels in this build: popup, push notification, email and sound, one message per closed bar.

Only one event speaks here: Tenkan crossing Kijun. `EnableAlerts` holds the master switch and `EnablePopup` already raises the terminal window. The app, the mail queue and the speakers behind `SoundFile` all begin shut. One message per closed bar.

Where the defaults suit

Hosoda built these numbers for a six-day trading week on daily bars. EURUSD H1 is the reference chart, where crossings arrive once or twice a day. Go faster and they crowd. Go slower and each one covers weeks.

What it misses

Five lines plus a cloud crowd the chart.

A crossing ignores the cloud entirely.

Both lines step flat, so price can hug one for many bars.

Seventy-eight bars of warm-up leaves a short history blank.

FAQ

Which two lines must cross for a TK Buy?

Tenkan-sen finishing above Kijun-sen on a bar where it sat below on the one before. No other line takes part, so the mark can land with price inside the cloud or on the wrong side of the lagging span.

Why do Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen step flat?

Each takes the midpoint between the highest high and lowest low of its window rather than averaging closes. While neither extreme changes, that midpoint cannot move, so the line draws a flat segment.

Which line does SenkouSpanBPeriod 52 control?

The slower of the two cloud edges. Fifty-two bars is twice Kijun’s window, which makes that edge the steadiest line in the system and the cloud’s shape a comparison between two speeds.

How many bars before the Chikou Span draws?

About seventy-eight. The slowest span needs fifty-two, and the system shifts forward by another twenty-six, so both have to fill before the cloud is drawable at all on a fresh chart.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Trading involves risk. Results are not guaranteed; past performance is not indicative of future results. Use the Ichimoku alert Indicator as one input. Always backtest before trading live.
