MA Ribbon Filled Shift MTF NMC Indicator for MT4 and MT5

Written by Dominic Walsh · Published · Last updated

Six lines is enough to see agreement rather than just direction. The ma ribbon filled shift mtf nmc indicator stacks averages at Fibonacci lengths, reads them from whichever chart its own input names, and pushes the whole ribbon three bars forward so it sits ahead of price.

This build ships as a compiled .ex4 for MT4 and .ex5 for MT5; the screenshots below come from EURUSD H1.

What the build shows

Six curves, all on the price chart.

The fastest `EMA` traces dodger blue at width 2.

Next come deep sky blue and aqua.

Then gold, orange and tomato for the slower three.

All six carry the same width.

Nothing appears in a pane below.

Working through the maths

Fibonacci lengths

`InpMA1Period` `8` through `InpMA6Period` `89` follow the sequence. Each step roughly doubles, so the six cover a wide span without bunching at either end.

Reading another chart

`InpHTF` `PERIOD_H1` names the chart every average is built on. The code then matches each of your bars to whichever bar on that chart covers it.

The forward step

`InpShift` `3` moves the whole ribbon three bars to the right. Each EMA keeps the value it already had; the lines simply sit ahead of the candles rather than under them.

Getting a read from it

Six lines fanned wide means strong agreement.

Six lines braided means no agreement at all.

The order of the lines names the direction.

A full flip of that order is what it reports.

The ribbon sits three bars ahead of price.

Warm-up needs about ninety-two bars.

Alert channels in this build: popup, one message per closed bar.

`InpAlertOnTwist` `true` raises a terminal message when the whole ribbon flips order on a closed bar. The terminal is the only destination here, since this build carries no phone, mail or audio setting in its panel.

Where the defaults suit

An eighty-nine bar slowest line needs a chart with real history behind it. EURUSD H1 is the reference chart and matches the default source setting. On M15 the ribbon updates in steps. On H4 a full flip is a monthly event.

Where it stops working

A full flip of six lines is a rare and late event.

Shifting the ribbon forward hides where it actually sat.

Six curves at close lengths braid for long stretches.

Every line lags the price behind it.

FAQ

Why does InpMA6Period sit as high as 89?

Because the six lengths are consecutive Fibonacci numbers, each roughly doubling the one before. That spacing covers a wide range of horizons evenly instead of bunching several similar lengths together.

What does InpShift 3 actually move?

The drawn ribbon, three bars to the right. It changes nothing in the calculation, so the values stay identical; they simply appear ahead of the candles that produced them.

What counts as the twist InpAlertOnTwist reports?

The entire order of the six lines reversing. That is considerably stricter than one crossing, which is why the message is rare and why it usually arrives well into a move.

Should InpHTF match my chart?

It can. Set to the same timeframe you are watching, the ribbon becomes an ordinary set of averages; set slower, each of your bars takes the value of whichever higher bar covers it.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Trading involves risk. Results are not guaranteed; past performance is not indicative of future results. Use the Ma Ribbon Filled Shift Mtf Nmc Indicator as one input. Always backtest before trading live.
