Tenken Sen Kijun Hist MTFAlertsArrows Indicator for MT4 and MT5

Written by Dominic Walsh · Published · Last updated

The Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen cross is the core Ichimoku trigger. The tenken sen kijun hist mtfalertsarrows indicator draws both lines, watches their difference, and marks a cross only when the same two lines on the H4 chart point the same way. A switch removes the H4 check.

This build ships as a compiled .ex4 for MT4 and .ex5 for MT5; the screenshots below come from EURUSD H1.

The mechanism

Tenkan and Kijun

`TenkanPeriod` `9` and `KijunPeriod` `26` each take the midpoint of the highest high and lowest low over their window.

Cross

A buy needs Tenkan to move from at or below Kijun to above it on a closed bar.

H4 check

With `UseMTF` on, the `HigherTF` `PERIOD_H4` Tenkan must also sit at or above its Kijun for a buy.

Making sense of the output

Blue above orange red means short-term strength.

A lime mark is a cross up that H4 agrees with.

A red mark is a cross down that H4 agrees with.

Crosses against H4 stay unmarked.

Both lines flatten in ranges.

Warm-up needs about twenty-six bars.

Alert channels in this build: popup, push notification, email and sound, one message per closed bar.

Agreeing crosses report once per closed bar. `EnableAlerts` is the master switch, with only the popup enabled by default.

Which chart to load it on

Ichimoku was designed for daily charts, but the cross works on hourly ones too. On the hourly EURUSD screenshot, agreeing crosses come a few times a week. On M15 set `HigherTF` to H1.

Its blind spots

Crosses inside flat lines whipsaw.

The H4 check can block early turns.

Cloud and Chikou are not drawn.

Only the popup starts enabled.

FAQ

What range do TenkanPeriod 9 and KijunPeriod 26 use?

Each line is the midpoint of the highest high and lowest low over its window: nine bars for Tenkan-sen and twenty-six for Kijun-sen. Neither is an average of closes.

What does UseMTF add to the cross?

It asks the H4 Tenkan and Kijun to agree. A cross up on your chart only prints if the H4 Tenkan is at or above its Kijun at that time.

Are the cloud and Chikou part of this Tenkan build?

No. It draws only Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen and marks their crosses. The cloud and the lagging Chikou line are left out to keep the chart focused on the cross itself.

Does UseMTF work with a daily HigherTF?

Yes. Set `HigherTF` to D1 and crosses then need the daily Tenkan and Kijun to agree. That suits H4 charts and filters out more counter-trend crosses than the H4 default.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Trading involves risk. Results are not guaranteed; past performance is not indicative of future results. Use the Tenken Sen Kijun Hist Mtfalertsarrows Indicator as one input. Always backtest before trading live.
